Teen romances on TV have a long and crazy past. The first teen lovers I remember are Corey and Topanga from Boy Meets World. They were so funny and cute together. I remember Alan Matthews (Corey’s dad, played by William Russ) thought they were super cute together too. He used to take pictures of them before they went to school. But he also had a very wry sense of humor, so it was not quite clear if he thought it was silly or cute. Probably he thought the silly was cute! That was the point I think, and I think that is the case with most teen romances on TV these days and in the past. It’s puppy love. Puppies are awkward in love, I think. Just like teens. That must be where that phrase comes from! I just really thought it was great to watch their love develop on Boy Meets World. So precious!
